    That does it.

I have just received the 5th (friendly) email asking why all my posts are in lower case, except proper nouns. The original reason was a silly one, but I've been doing it for so long that it is now just force of habit.

From here on, provided I remember, capital letters will be employed in their customary roles.

Letters are like musical notes, why play everything at one volume when you can be MORE EXPRESSIVE by Applying Dymamics. Without them, we sound -- AND READ -- like we're COMPUTER GENERATED.

Actually both my parents were teachers and poor grammar is a bit like fingernails on a blackboard. I may have digital failure now and again but I do try. Digital failure means fahngers, so it kud apply to pickin' too.

    Billy Ray Latham lives!!

When my father had lost some social inhibition with age, we were at a restaurant and the dessert cart went by our table. He reached out and grabbed a handful of cake and ate it. Everybody just smiled (and we quietly paid for the dessert).

I find ALL CAPS more irritating than all lower case.

To be totally honest with you...

...I thought this thread was about the band "Capital Offense".

Their bass player and former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee is running for President and so I thought that this was where the discussion was going.

You got me hook, line and sinker.....

Good one, JEStanek. But that's a debate for another time and place.

What really annoys me is when folk write single paragraphs, 750 words long. White space is your friend!

Some of us are English teachers when we're not playing our mandos. We read and grade badly written papers all week, evenings included. Reading a well written one (these come along rarely) can feel like a long drink of cold water. So you non-capitalizers and you possessive pronoun butchers who don't know the difference between its and it's or your and you're, please be patient with us. We do a pretty good job of ignoring your grammatical and stylistic #####.

By the way, "it's" means "it is," and "you're" means "you are." Statements like "My mandolin broke it is tailpiece" or "I like you are mandolin" can make a fella feel a bit testy after a while.

Gee, in my post above, a word got edited out. Lest anyone think I was waxing obscene, the expunged word referred to flatulence.

Play on, punctuators and punk chew aterz alike!

    Art,
I'm a stream of thoughts guy too... The dots are actually correct, I believe. I'll check my Strunk and White later. For those who don't like the dots...
... --- ... Maybe an English prof. will come to the rescue.
