http://www.12fret.com/new/NewMAD_Mix...ndolin_pg.html [Why can't I get this to be a "live link"?? - please cut and paste link to get to website listing.]

Just saw this listing for a Graphite mandolin. #I'm a boater - just small boats now (canoe & small sailboat) - so the niche need for a "boating mandolin) is very real. #Right now I take my Breedlove Quartz KF out in the boat without worries - fairly low cost, fairly decent tone, easily replaced.

This Mix has me thinking about getting a "better boater beater" - anyone here tried (or better - actually own) one of these? #How much are they? #What do they sound like? #Any other comments?

    Thanks for help.

There are numerous discussions of these on the cafe. Do a search and you'll find them.
The consensus is that they're fine instruments, but they aren't cheap.

You could enter the contest on the home page and maybe win one and find out more. Or read Some of these.

The New-Mad web site has several video clips posted here.

I have only heard the sound clips provided at the link for the contest (which I have entered, of course!). I think it sounds exquisite! It seems to ring really well... better than my mando. And I desperately want it!

I heard a carbon fiber guitar and was very suprised how good it sounded. I'll bet the mandolin sounds good, but I think they are right up there in price with other quality instruments.
