What is the deal with the Gibson F-5 V (Special Edition) on E-bay? This is the second try and still no bidders.

It's easier to answer that question if you post the auction number or a link to it.

Asking too much money. You can also see a Doyle Lawson at $4500. I bought my Sam Bush also on E-bay for $4600.

yup too high. Didn't leave enough room for a good bidding war.

I sold a '95 F5v here on the Cafe about 3 years ago for 6k.These are varnished instruments with excellent fit and finish, and the one I had sounded great. I think,IMHO,that it is priced just about right. I do not know this seller and have no interest in the sale.

Apparently not too many people think it's priced right as it's been listed a few times. I'd be tempted to put the 6 grand on as the resevre and start the bidding at about 3 grand just to see what the market really was.

Not all that uncommon with Gibson brand instruments.

In the last month this guy has sold his Martin D45 200th Anniversary Deluxe Commemorative, James Goodall Grand Concert Koa Guitar, 1994 Gibson Les Paul Standard - Cherry Sunburst, and Martin 12 String Custom Guitar - J12-40.

According to the family blog he is going to Barcelona to work on his MBA.

There have been a few varnish Ferns sell recently for around $6000. So I think he's a little high myself.

To me the big question is whether the Montana-built Weber-signed Gibsons will be especially desired as time goes by.

Six grand might be an OK price, particularly in the condition this one is in, but if I play it I'll scratch it up and I would have to hold it for several years to get a good return on it.
