Long time lurker, sometime poster - just a quick picture of my just finished Flying V 4-string mandolin. 13.75" scale length, Andrew Jerman bridge, Alder body, Maple neck, p-Bass pickup. Sounds great. Present for my son's college graduation.

Thanks for all that this forum provides.

    That looks pretty cool.

Now you gotta build an Explorer.

So where's MY graduation present? It's only been, like, 15 years...

Seriously, it looks way cool. How does it sound through that amp? Any thought of building more?

Thanks to all for comments. Yes it sounds great through the Champ style tube amp. I used a .047 Mfd cap in the circuit to cut the treble and it sounds great. I am breaking out some of my son's guitar pedals - I suspect this electric thing will be fun.

I have a Les Paul double cut layed out on another piece of alder for myself. A few weeks recovery and back at it.

Harp Gear Amp, great little Amp, I have the 15 watt and the 30 watt with 2x8". Brian Purdy out of Florida is doing a heck of a job on them. Are you a harp player?

    John:

Yes a harp player - blues. #More money than talent though - thats why I have the HarpGear - but the mando sounds great through it.

A flying V is my main hatchet at the moment, welcome to the fold! I like the classic look you've got going there. Pretty soon, you'll have to get the trick of making "mandolin face" while rocking out...

Yeah, Christian's is a 5-stringer. Look up builder Michael Dolan at emando.com and you'll see a pic.

I have a custom 5 string Flying V mando! It's called "VALKYRIA" and it's made by brazilian luthier FABIO BATANJ. Has 2 Dimarzio ProTracks, whammy bar, coil-splits...everything! It feels amazing also...

I have some videos on my youtube channel, www.youtube.com/user/mmdeva

    5-stringer,
VERY Nice! Flo and Eddie didn't sing it any better than you played it!

I love how well Zappa's material plays on the mandolin. I've been playing with "I'm the Slime" for years.

    kbarry,
Cool mando! I agree with the Kid. Explorer!
