I received my new Morris A5 yesterday. This truly a great mandolin. I had read all the posts about Mr. Morris and his mandolin's before I pulled the string so I thought I had some idea of what to expect. I didn't. It is by far the one of the best sounding A5's for it's age, I have played (regardless of price) and I have played quite a few. With no binding and just a stiffing rod in the neck, it is simple in design and appointments. The tone is clear and warm with lots of sustain. It still sounds a little tight but has an amazing amount of bark that reminds me of a short burst of a loud train whistle in the A and B range.

I will try to post some sound clips soon. Here are some pictures.

Sounds like the mando came with the "dry, woody growl" pre-installed. Nice.

I've got a Morris with a Douglas Fir top, and I think it's one of the mando world's great bargains....
    Sounds and plays great...

Wow, that's really handsome! #Thanks for the clip, too, nice playing!

I've watched Morrises for a while, this is the best one I've seen.

    Congrats and enjoy,
