Am I smoking something, or do I recall correctly that Buck White's Tom Ellis mandolin has pennies for tuner buttons?

Or was that Ricky Skaggs' Ellis?

I believe Russ is correct. Seems I heard that from the builder himself.

I may see Luke Thompson next weekend (he's working on an old Brazilian dred of mine),Ill ask him.

As of several months ago he was still building guitars and mandolins.

I've been thinking that a silver dollar would make a nice tailpiece.
