On Father's Day

Free ferry ride for Dads to both Spectacle Island and Georges Island
Which are part of the Boston Harbor Islands a national park area
Two concerts on Georges Island: 12:15 pm & 2:00 pm
Dads will be able to Rock & Ride for free this Father's Day, Sunday, June
17 with a complimentary ferry ride and a POP Star concert on Georges
Island. (All Dads must be accompanied by a fare-paying child.) Harbor
Island Express boats leave from Long Wharf every hour on the hour starting
at 9:00 am to 5:00pm. The Dad's Day 25-minute ferry ride also stops at
Spectacle Island, which just re-opened to the public last year. Ferry
tickets are:$12 adult, $7 children ages 3 - 11, under age 3 ride Free.
Families are invited to enjoy this seven-piece all DAD band! With
relatable and timeless songs such as "Spilt Milk", "Baby on the Way" and
"Pooped On" the POP Stars are sure to make your Father's Day fun. There
will be two concerts on Georges Island at
12:15 pm and 2:00pm.
On Father's Day, Dads on a first come first served basis, will also be
treated to a complimentary dessert at the Captain Flye Café on Georges
Island. Families can also take a walk on a beach, explore a fort, climb to
the highest point in Boston Harbor or just enjoy being on the ocean. Park
rangers and volunteers also offer free guided natural and historical themed
walks on island trails.
Spectacle Island offers a new 'green' visitor's center, serving café
amenities and exhibits about island history. Also, classic picnic/outdoor
activities will be on-going- or bring your fishing pole, frisbee, or wiffle
bat and ball. Spectacle Island also offer a one-of-a-kind view of the
Boston Skyline from the crest of the 157 foot high hill.
This event is being sponsored by Island Alliance, with supporting partners
Harbor Islands Express, Captain Flye Cafe, Boston Harbor National Park
Service and the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation.
POP Stars Bio:
Based in the Metrowest area of Boston, The POP Stars is a band comprised of
a group of dads who perform original songs about fatherhood. The result is
a light-hearted and meaningful look at parenting combined with a Folk Rock
"POP" beat that is a guaranteed good time for all. The POP Stars have been
featured in the Boston Sunday Globe, The Metrowest Daily News and on the
WCVB Television show Chronicle.
They recently performed at the Mamapalooza festival in New York City as one
of the few chosen Dad bands. They will be appearing in an upcoming program
about Parenting on the "New Morning" show on the Hallmark Channel. For more
