I saw Homer & Jethro once. This mandolin therapy isn't helping me get over it.

Cool! Those guys picked for hours one night outside of Lynn's shop @ the Symposium.
That other fella is Solly Burton, 2 time Winfield mandolin champ, from Indiana.
Hey, I had a lot of hair back in the day too........now I wear hats like Jesse.
That picture is awesome. Jesse probably misses his hair, I know I do. Mine decided it was time to go about 10 years ago

Well, that's a facet of Jesse Cobb's playing i've not heard before. I loved his playing with the 'Stringdusters' & now i'm even more impressed !. Thanks for the clip MM,

Very nice playing on very nice instruments. Jethro would be proud. And that number is in Dave Peters' Master Of The Mandolin, I think I heard some of those licks from the picker on the right.
Apparently, Jesse had never played this tune before. If you listen close at the end, he asks Solly what the name of it is. Doesn't seem to matter though! They both walked into our room at the Symposium about the same time, asked to play a couple of my instruments, and stared picking. Jesse is playing the first mandolin I ever built, and Solly is on #8. I asked their permission to post this and they were both kind enough to say yes. This is one of those magic "Symposium moments"!
"Nice man, what is that called?"
Wow, you would never have guessed listening to him play it!
5 Stars!

High level jammers for sure, Mandopete. I suck, but I see a clip like this and wonder if it wouldn't still be worth the money to go a mando event just for the "symposium moments" - and to have Lynn D give my mando the once over. Kind of hoping for a couple of those moments on the cruise with Steep Canyon, Tim O, David G, and Chris T in Feb.
Got to keep an eye out for Solly Burton appearances in my area now. Not much on the internet for a clue, but here's some nice picking: http://www.kentuckyfiddler.com/Music...y%20Burton.htm Not the first really fine mando player I've discovered jammin with Jesse, either.
Yeah, I think Jethro might have liked this one, Alan.
