Well as promised Special "C" was back in Texas on Thursday the 17th. Ths venue was at Bedford and was part of The Artsnet master series. Greg,Justin, Dave, and Ron were all in fine form again. Mandoplucker, Ron was indeed playing a Chris Stanley custom built F5. I can't begin to describe it other than it looks and sounds GREAT. Yes, I will shout that to the world. Ron handed it to me to look over while he put STORM #1 thru the paces. I was flabbergasted to hold and inspect a mandolin with my name on the peghead. Chris Stanley, you did a fine job on that mandolin and Ron is proud to show it off.
Jim Simpson, Justin said ya'll picked some in Pa.

Ron will be joining Doyle Lawson later on this year to replace Jamie Dailey, who is leaving in Dec.

Seen them friday 18th at the fire on the strings. I was very impressed, they are a first class act! Ron let me play his mando and Justin let Michael play his 41 d-18 in the flat-pick contest.

Well people just bouncing around everywhere... Where is Jamie going?

Wonder why Ashby left Marty Raybon?

Ron can sing high, but Jamie and Barry had some of the purest high tenors out there. It was amazing to hear them when Doyle had both of em. Now, he'll not have either.

Well as I posted in the original Special C thread:

If you haven't heard Jamie Dailey's story then listen up! He's formed a new band along with Darren Vincent of Kentucky Thunder fame (also has a sister that goes by the name of Rhonda #). They are called The Dailey Vincent Band and I'm here to tell you they are just flat going to blow the socks off everybody starting about the first of next year. They're both staying with their current bands until around the end of this year and are leaving Doyle and Ricky on good terms.

Jeff Parker is going to play mandolin and sing harmony with them. Speaking of harmony you would not believe how good they sound already. DLQ is going to have some serious competition for vocal group of the year. They also have a hot young banjo picker and fiddler who I'm not at liberty to name just yet. They're practicing 8 - 10 hours a day 2 to 3 days a week and are going to come out of the gate running. They will be releasing their first album around the end of the year and judging by the 4 song sampler CD I've got it is gonna be an absolute killer.
When you hear Jamie and Darrin singing together it sounds pretty amazing too.
