Keep your eyes and ears out for the Celery City Sodbusters, a mighty fine old-time band from Kalamazoo, MI. Jim Cooper (mandolin) doubles on lead with Richard Whitfield (fiddle) while Marilyn Branch plays bass and Pete (? - sorry, Pete!) plays guitar. They plaed for Goshen Community Contra Dancing last night and did a great job. They are making leaps and strides in their sound. They reminded me of Cousin Curtis (Buckhannon) and the Cash Rebates, but with their own spin. Listening to them was like a fine old trip back memory lane to the days of Kimmswick dance weekends back on the old farmstead. Great playing, great selection of tunes, great pacing for the dances. Whew! #![]()
