Looks like a highly figured two-piece back with an unfortunately typical back seam separation.
Nothing a good luthier couldn't put a few cleats in and some hide glue to fix up as good as new!
I heard there were a few of these in some of the hotel rooms at Wintergrass...

It looks like a Lyon & Healy Leptinotarsa Decemlineata, which I think is Latin for "comes with hard shell case."
I could be wrong on that.
