On my old "Hondo" I use a wide Guitar strap. I've never had a problem with that, but I've noticed other mandolin owners using a narrow strap. SO what do you use?

Getting back into playing the mandolin after a 17 year lapse.
... the kind that has two ends ...

Long Hollow Leather "Mandolin Softy." I have one for each of my good mandos. Great strap.
One bootlace.
One combination woven bootlace and belt.
I have one of these on each of my mandolins using strap buttons on both ends. Both are A style, not sure how well it would work on an F.
Levy 1/2 inch mandolin strap, no buckles and stays put just fine.
I treated myself to a strap from Sully"s Straps.Very nice.

I use a regular guitar strap tied to the scroll on my F with the other end secured by a strap lock. I wear mine over my shoulder like a guitar though, since I swing it behind me when I play tin whistle.

I have been playing strapless for the last six months or so. Its been a real blast.
I use Loren Bailey's straps exclusively! Great product from a great guy! I have one strap which I made about 20 years ago from a leather bootlace. I tied a hangman's noose at both ends, kinda like Sam Bush's strap. I have 3 of Loren's straps!![]()

Fashion hound that I am, I have one black and one brown braided Dudette straps.
a bit of red rope from a DIY store. divided the strands at one end and rebraided a scroll loop. other end has a leather button tab tied on for the tailpiece button. the tab was just a piece cut from an old belt.
nothing fancy for me! works fine.![]()

oh, meant to add: i used to use a wide guitar strap, but i use straplocks and it was a pain in the rear taking the strap off every time because the mando wouldn't fit in the case with it on.
the rope fits nice and cosy.

Drawstring from a pair of pants that wore out. Pure hemp, too.
Bought 3 leather straps, kind of like bootlaces, from the local tack shop. Braided them together and tied it on. Works great and looks nice.
I tried a single rawhide bootlace but it hurts my shoulder. My favorite commercial strap is a Long Hollow Softy, but right now I'm using an old western-style belt, which I customized into a cool looking strap.I discovered a way to attach it to the scroll which sort of came about because I couldn't really figure anything else out. I stuck a piece of rawhide lacing through a hole in the end of the strap and knotted it so it can't pull through, then I tied another knot just far enough from the end of the strap to hold this little piece of lacing inside the scroll. The knots are placed just far enough apart to hold tightly to the mandolin. Unorthodox, I know, but so far so good, and it looks cool.

I use a Long Hollow Leather "Softy" and also a Spurgeon braided leather strap. I can't decide which I like better, they're both very nice really and both are good values at around $15 each.

I'm a fan of the Long Hollow Softies. Just the right width, confortable, not too large when rolled up.
Rawhide with a hangman's noose ala Sammy B.
Roo, too. You?
