Japan was originially called Opus 23 before the band's first tour of Japan. The D Dorian mode scale gives it a sound that David heard in Japanese music & he renamed it.

Originally released on Mondo Mando it features a 2 mandolins in harmony melody. I learned this one from the Grisman Homespun lesson set of Cd's & Dawg tune book. Check it out!
