I JUST GOT AN OLD MANDOLIN AND NO ONE SO FAR CAN IDENTIFY IT. THE BODY IS BLONDE, HAS A DEPTH OF 2&1/2", WITH A CURVED TOP AND BACK,F HOLES, ROSEWOOD FINGERBOARD AND ADJUSTABLE ROSEWOOD BRIDGE.IT HAS A BUILT IN PICK UP, WHICH STILL WORKS FINE BUT HAS A GREAT CHOP AND GOOD VOLUME WITHOUT USING IT.THE TAIL PIECE DOES NOT HAVE A REMOVABLE COVER. AT THE TOP OF THE HEADSTOCK IT SAYS "MAYFAIR", AND THERE IS A LARGE TREBLE CLEF UNDER THAT. THE ACTION IS CLOSE AND IT IS REALLY EASY TO PLAY. I WAS TOLD IT WAS MADE IN 1953. I WOULD APPRECIATE ANY INFORMATION ANYONE COULD GIVE. #SCRATCHITOUT

Photos always help. I also helps if you type uysing upper and lower case -- makes it easier to read and all upper case is the equivalent of shouting on the 'Net.

As far as Mayfair. Mugwumps says it is a brand name used by Slingerland. Most likely Slingerland farmed out their mandolin manufacture to other firms, so a photo would help in identifying here.

There is this one on the auction site.

I don't know if it's related, but I have an Epiphone Mayfair tenor banjo my grandmother bought during the depression for $5.
