I have a friend that owns an old Gibson A model with the oval hole. It is one of the "paddlehead" types, and though it has the Gibson label inside, the peghead has no inlay or decal- it's blank. It appears to be original.

Anyone have an idea what the vintage of this might be?

    Thanks-

    Rick

Not sure what the serial number is- I didn't get it at the time since I hadn't decided to post this inquiry until later.

I'll have to check it and post it if I can. Actually, an approximate time frame is all I'm looking for.

There had at one time been a pickguard, since there are the small holes in the edge of the fingerboard where it would have been mounted, but the guard is not now present. There aren't any other holes in the body (I'm not sure how the outboard edge of the guards are mounted- I've seen a metal clamp arrangement on these before, but don't know if a hole was required for that).
