My first was a StewMac kit that came out very nice. This is my first scratch build and I am pleased with it. It has plenty of volume and a good clear tone that is still developing.

I cut and inlaid the greyhounds because my wife and I are owned by two of these wonderful rescued ex-racers and we do volunteer work for a Southern California rescue group. I wanted to build a mando that expressed my life interests somewhat.

I will post a series of pics of the mando. Thanks for all the wonderful info and generous sharing everyone does in this forum - I learn something every day.

    A fine-looking mandolin, without a doubt. How's it sound?

My wife (especially) and I love your mandolin. She's a vet in the Philly burbs and treats plenty of brindle greyhounds (she says the quilted maple reminds her of brindle greyhounds). Congrats on an excellent looking build.

Awesome inlay and finish! A great looking mandolin.

Great job! I, alas, will never have the gumption or skills to make an instrument of my own -- I leave that work to you folks! On the other hand, any MI/IN/OH/IL celtic/bg/ng/dawn mando players are welcome to swill my beer at the pub

Not to hijack the thread, but what beer do you make BrewingBard?

Very nice mando by the way....

Thanks for all your kind words. #I am very happy with the sound of this A5 - it has good sustain and clarity with some richness and I like that - at least to my ear.

I am retired from my former career, and keep busy with a number of things and do some instrument repair to help earn money to keep building. #Guess I'll have to sell a mando someday too!

I thouroughly enjoy this web site and the forum. #

    Thanks all!!!
