This is under the heading "unsubstantiated rumor", but I hope tomorrow to make it fact that Peter Ostroushko will be appearing in concert at Mass. Street Music on March 10 at 7:00 p.m. There may be a mandolin and/or guitar workshop as well at 4:00. Peter last played in Lawrence the night before the first Mandofest which I believe was 14 or 15 years ago. He doesn't get in this area often so we're hoping to seal all of this down and get him here.

I'm envious Scott. His album with Norman Blake will always be in my top ten. Just an incredible musician.

Peter is one cool guy. I had a mandolin lesson with him many years ago in his house in Minneapolis. I'm sure he does not remember me, but we talked about picking bluegrass style. He said he really did not know anything about that, but it was mostly just playing in thirds. He then played a bit for me and we had a great time. I did enjoy the session even though it did not contain much of what I was looking for. Sometimes the surprises are better than our expectations!

Scott -- be sure to ask him how often he changes his strings.

I asked my sister-in-law who lives in Minneapolis, if she had ever heard of Peter O. She replied,"Oh yes, he's the guy who plays mandolin at our church occasionally". That's enough to make a mandonut drive 5 hours for Sunday services!

Peter played near here on the south side of Chicago a couple weeks back, a first for this area as far as I know, and the first time I've seen him live. It was a wonderful experience. The music, the playing, the stage presence, all just as tasty and high class as could be. Just kept me with wide open eyes and a big smile from beginning to end.

    Scott,

    No word yet?

    Waiting with anticipation.
If it was easy, everyone would be doing it.
