Saw Michelle Nixon and Drive in Toronto On Sunday 18th, my first real bluegrass concert, we don't get that many up here. I'm still so stoked that words almost fail me. They had the whole room in the palms of their hands within the first number. Oh yeah, the mandoln content. Jamie Harper was their mandolin player, man oh man can this guy cook! Managed to sneak up on stage during intermission and have a peak at his mando, he'd left it up there. Plays a The Gibson Master Model, truss rod cover looked like MOP with his name engraved on it, tailpiece was cast with string hooks in a v-shape so whatever that make is, nice abrasion cavity developing where he plants. That's about all the time I had up there, didn't want to make anyone nervous. Anyway, fantastic band, strongly recommend you see them whenever you can.

Michelle is awesome...and Jamie is a great mandolin player and he isn't that old either. #He comes from Mocksville/Farmville area of NC. #I love to see/hear him play. #

Michelle was kind enough to give us an interview for our radio show and podcast on our internet site last fall. #She is an extremely nice lady as well as a lot of fun to be around. #Luckily for me she live about 30 miles west of Richmond, VA and is playing around Virginia alot this summer.

I actually bought one of Jamie's mandolins (a Putnam) about a year and a half ago. He is a super nice guy and can really rip it up.
