I saw this at the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum. I guess Orville's wife wasn't a fan of mandolin.

Sounds like something MY wife would say! #But then, when I play, the neighborhood milk cows go dry, cats go spastic, dogs howl, and horses elevate about 4 feet and dart about in all directions at that altitude! #

His wife (and neighbors) probably wished it was 'I'll Fly Away!' #

    Why air travel was invented:

Explanation 1. Humanity's unquenchable thirst and inspiration to touch the sky, to sail the heavens, to blah, blah, blah...

Explanation 2. Mean Mrs. Wright got so sick of the same old fiddle tunes, she forced Orvie to go outside and play.

His brother Wilber accompanied him on guitar....
But Amsterdam was always good for grieving
And London never fails to leave me blue
And Paris never was my kinda town
So I walked around with the Ft. Worth Blues

Wonder if he had any trouble bringing it as a carry-on.

Katherine was Orville's sister, not his wife.
