We got started reeally late since most of the instruments were donated at the 11th hour. Only two of the instruments met the reserve prices so we still have four really nice ones that we'll let go at fair prices. We still have the Gibson F-5 Fern, the Collings A Glossytop Blackface, the Larrivee D-50 guitar and the Deering "Boston" Planetary 5-string banjo. We will most likely decide tomorrow whether to list them on the internet or put them on consignment in a leading music store that specializes in Bluegrass instruments.

Believe it or not I actually thought the Gibson mando sounded pretty good. I tent to be one of their harsher critics but this one is one of the better sounding ones I've played in the last 10years

what year was the fern and who signed it.
I had the opportunity to "babysit" these instruments last Saturday night at Supergrass, and they're all GREAT instruments. My favorite was the Collings, perhaps because of its big bass "thud"....but that Fern is REAL nice too, and with some opening up is going to be a special one, to be sure. I'm surprised no one picked up that Larrivee, which for the price is a wonderful Bluegrass guitar. I won't admit to having played the Deering.....there are mandolin police everywhere!![]()
