I am looking to find a sine wave generator for the purpose of checking Chladni patterns on top and back plates during the carving process. Does anybody know of a source? Thanks in advance.

I have one I bought about last year off of e-bay. It is still in the box. I will let it go if you are interested.
I got more interested in tap tuning than patterns.

I'm not trying to steal Dave's sale here, but it looks to me like you can download sine wave generators and turn you computer into one. I haven't tried it, so I don't know how well that works.

Does that mean you want a generator and amplifier in one package? Would a computer one require a separate amp?

The setup I am interested in creating is similar to that displayed here. What I was hoping to find is a tone generator with a digital display. I guess I'll need an amplifier as well.

Can't say I know what those patterns mean, but it's fun making them! I used a downloaded software tone generator, soundcard output into a pre-amp and so into a little combo amp lying on its back with the plate resting on cubes of foam. Glitter makes the patterns.
