I also purchased a Glenn A-5 from Allen Jones due to the review by Mark J. Lane, everything he said is true although fit and finish is better than I expected it is #102 and I had Allen leave the top natural with the mahogany stained back and sides the french polish finish looks great and 2 days into playing it,sounds better each time I pick it up. I think it is way better than a begginer mandolin if thats what student model means, sound alot like a Gibson more resonate though. I adjusted the intonation and action and it notes true all over plays great and I will not hesitate to use it on stage, I am not a pro but I know darn well it will do its job, I will again add that if anyone is looking for a handmade great sounding American made mandolin BUY ONE OF THESE they are and unbelievable deal,Adirondack topped frenchpolished dandy! I also received my Glenn Student A mandolin within the past week or so and couldn't be happier. Allen did a dark burst for me and I really like the appearance. The workmanship is good and the sound is really fine. Very resonant and sounding better each day. Allen was very easy to work with. All in all, he makes a fine mandolin at a sweet price. Thanks Allen!

is he still making the student in an F-model for right at $1,000. there was a sweet-looking Glenn at the mandolin store a few months ago that resembled an collings MF. it was only $1300, which is a nice price for a hanmade F-style.
