I think I got lucky and bought a custom made Solid Body Electric Mandolin on ebay with a maple top like a Les Paul and neck through construction. Sustain is awesome!

Since my purchase in July I have been looking for another one. I see a lot of standard electric mandos but NO OM's.

Does any company make SBEOM or do you have to get them custom made?

Here's a link to Lark Street Music in NJ:
    Lark Street Inventory List

Scroll down to "Mandolins" and click on "Ramelectro Electric Mandocello." Looks like a Danelectro, with eight strings. AND -- it's available in lavender!

    Thumbs up

    Thanks for the links.

It looks like the sbeom's are indeed hard to come by. I sure am glad I made that impulsive buy on ebay. I got a great deal.

Anybody have one of those coil-tapped-humbucker equiped sbeom's or zouks?

Fatdog of Subway Guitars in Berkeley CA (I think) builds custom mandocellos on Danelectro Longhorn bodies; the price is tres reasonable ($275), and he offers a choice of pickups. Here's a link to the "custom instruments" page on the Subway Guitars website:

    "Custom creations"

    Hope this helps

I have a custom build 4-string solid body electric OM built by Steve Ryder. I love it. If you're interested his website is www.sjryder.com. If you click on "electric mandolins" from his home page; then EM-44 at the bottom; the sea foam green one is mine!
    Obsessed with four strings...
