A guitar player for years, and a recent convert to the mandolin, I've quickly grown to love this instrument. I think the best thing so far is the time I spend with my 11 year old daughter because of the mandolin. She has played violin in the school orchestra for the last 2 years, but there was never much we could do together with the guitar and violin. Since getting the mandolin we have been learning some simple bluegrass songs together and are just loving it. And she seems a lot happier to be fiddling than to be playing Bach.

So where the guitar is primarily an instrument of solitude for me, the mandolin is becoming one that allows me to share time with my family. I'm loving it. #
