Chris Isaak did a terrific cover of "Solitary Man" on his San Francisco Days album. (no mandos). #Isaak's cover of "Heart Full Of Soul" on Chris Isaak is superior to the original by the Yardbirds, believ it or not. It's too bad he never cut more covers, especially when some of those were standout tracks on the CDs.

Who is Chris Isaak? What do you mean by "cover?" And yes, I find it hard to believe that anyone could do a greater version of "Heart Full of Soul..." So... I'm confused as usual... is the name of the c.d. "Heart Full of Soul" or Chris Isaak? Excuse my ignorance... Maybe you could provide a "link?"
The BG 45 did a cover of "Sweet Caroline" decades ago, well done, too.
Y'all might get a kick out of this band.

The later albums aren't bad, but he seems to be rehashing the same song formula, and he's getting a bit old for that slant on lost love. He needs to start writing some creepier stuff (serial killers, liquor store robberies gone wrong) along the Tom Waits lines. #Well he had a song called "Black Flowers" off Speak Of The Devil which had that sort of mood and could have fit it on Wait's Black Rider album. #(Don't ask "Who's Tom Waits?"!!!)

Just as an "aside' to this thread.. re: Neil Diamond : Diamond - some years ago.. "went" to Gnashville and did a "country' album. I don't recall the name/title but probably a decent Diamond discography would list it. NOT Bluegrass, but... (Yes, I'm a big "fan" of Neil Diamond!) - I think the term is "eclectic"... Besides being a pretty good musician he's also got a great sense of humor. His interview in Playboy a few years ago was one of the funniest things I've ever read. His series on Showtime is also a hoot # Isaak show
