My Gibson F5G is in need of some work. It has a buzz on one fret, the action is high, the neck is bowed and it's hard to play. The intonation is almost perfect on the G and E strings but the D and A strings are noticably sharp on the second fret and get worse down the neck.

Can anyone recommend someone who can fix these problems. #Does the Gibson factory do setups?

Any advise would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks Steve

You don't say if you are the original owner or not but if you are it's a no brainer to take it back to Gibson in Nashville. Not the original owner most any good luthier use to building F5s could adjust this out. Tells us your area and maybe we can throw out some names close by.

I bought the mandolin used. I live in Southeast Missouri. I wouldn't care to ship it to someone if they came highly recommened. Or It's just a short drive to Nashville if there is someone really good there.
    Thanks

    I'd take it to Gibson.

    Steve,

If you're going to take it to Gibson, I'd suggest that you call and make an appointment first.

My understanding is that there could be quite a wait.

Steven...just call me at 615-533-6830 and we can make an appointment that works for both of us to get your mandolin handled. If it is just basic set up we can do it while you are in town. If more than that, you would have to leave it. I will look forward to talking to you.
