F-Style, Hangmans' noose on the tailpiece end;any color other than pink!

As for "over the shoulder" I'm only 6 months in to playing the Mando. I see a lot of "Bill Monroe 'look-a-likes'" slinging it over one shoulder:

    a) I tried the "over one shoulder" thing and found
that I felt as if the strap was going to slip
    off.

    b) I'd rather SOUND like "Bill" than look like him.

    c) I've always slung my guitar strap over two
shoulders, that's the way I'm most comfortable.
(I wonder if Bill slung HIS guitar strap over one
    shoulder?)

Dunno who started the "one shoulder" deal, but I'd like to know the rational. Maybe it is easier to play the mando that way? For now I'll keep sitting.

Actually, at the Jams I go to monthly, I find that if I want to stand, the mando ain't all that heavy, but til I get an arm rest, I'm sure I'm muffling the sound some.

P.S. "No offense intended in any way, shape or form, to Bill Monroe or any "one shoulder" players"(in case AlanN is reading this and lookin to pick a fight again).

On the Banjo Hangout, the one-shoulder topic comes up often. The gist of it is - cause Earl Scruggs wore it like that. The alleged reason was you didn't need to take off the cowboy hat to put on the instrument if you wear it on one shoulder.

I have a mando strap that only allows the right shoulder; I can live withit, but I prefer the over the left shoulder/guitar type strap. (The derby does not present a strap problem as it has a smaller brim. )

We are having a problem getting the thick dyed hemp for the straps. Most dyed hemp for sale on the internet is this and can only be used for adding color to the thicker straps. I have found a source out of Canada but it is going to take some time to get good thick colored cord hemp. So please bare with us. I have to guitar length straps that can be shipped now if anyone is interested. The straps can be classic hemp with brown, classic with cinamon or classic with light green. It looks real good. I posted a pic of this combination on the second page. Thank you all. I hope to hear a good response from Gary.

Fendoman:If you are referring to the Nov. 5th photo with the two colors woven together, that's fine.

Second strap will be in the mail tomorrow for Soupy. We have a few ready to ship. I have some nice shorties for one shoulder Fstyle. I like my straps short so my mandolin will ride high. I have a really cool long strap for A or F in a darker hemp. Its not so white like the others. She has come up with a few other mando related hemp accessaries that she want tell me about yet. Thanks yall.

I got the strap in today's mail. I really like it. It is well made and very unique. It is also quite comfortable. When I first saw it, I was afraid it might be too short, but it turned out to be a perfect length. The strap was easy to install and doesn't get in the way of playing.

NOw i'm wondering about something like this for may banjo. Thanks for the wonderful strap. The check really will be in the mail!

Thanks Gary. We really do appreciate you. We can do something nice for a banjo too. We have access to different kinds of instruments so we can try all of them. We have many ideas on some cool straps in the thought process. I think everyone will be happy with their hemp straps. If anyone wants a "OAK" hemp strap feel free to email me direct. Thank you all very much.

    Fendoman,

My Oak strap arrived yesterday and it is really nice. Your check will go out in the mail today. Now I just need a nice mandolin to go with it since I don't have one yet.

    Fendoman,

Your strap (two posts above mine) reminds me of the DNA double helix.

I do not know what that is but it took a lot of DNA to tie it. Double k"N"ot Anxiety. I like the spiral ones a lot. I wish someone would order one and tell me what they think. Thanks to all whom have givin us a try. More one the way with different variety.

I hate to use the "b" word here, but I just got my banjo strap and am very pleased with it. I play a Deering Goodtime and the hemp strap seems custom made for that banjo. Now i have one on the banjo and my Mid-Mo. Great straps and great people to deal with. Thanks to Fendoman and friend!!

I just got off the phone with a very knowledgable young man named Jared T. that is trying to help me get a new computer set up to help us get a web site going for us. We hope to have it going by the first of the year. We have lots of new ideas for straps for mandolin, banjo, and guitar. Gary B. loves his banjo strap and has inspired us to do more. We have a new mandolin strap in progress that will feature a round braid and have webbing on each end for the scroll and strap for the end pin like some of the more expensive leather straps. Thank yall for helping us get this off the ground.

This is a new strap yall might expect from us in the future. It need a little work. It features the loop for the scroll and a strap for the endpin. The hole in the endpin is whats givin us trouble right now. When we punch the hole through the material frays. We want to perfect this before we sell any. I think this is a good design but has some minor kinks. It is hand braided with natural and brown hemp. I hope yall like it and can give me some feed back. Be expecting a web site in the future also.

If it helps, this is how I attach the leather to my braided bootlace strap. (I never posted a picture before, I hope I did this right.)

We were calling this the "Oak" strap. Well I found out today that is properly spelled "OAKE" sorry I didn't know there was an E. So when we get our website up it will probaly be "the oake" lower cased. Thank you all for your interest.
