I received Pomeroy #86 on Saturday morning and I've played it many hours since. What I asked Don to do was make me a new old Gibson. I'm delighted so far. The sound is remarkably similar to my 1928 A oval and the feel is nearly the same too. I'll try and attach a picture or two.

Don was wonderful to work with. The instrument is a work of art and the price was amazing.

No. 3. These are Don's photos by the way. Taken just after he had strung the instrument up.

Beautiful mando, John. As the happy owner of #75 - also an A2 - I can attest to Don's ability to make a superb "modern" Snakehead. I'd recommend the "fossilized" bone bridge saddle for a bit more volume - especially on the G and D strings. Happy pickin'!

    Thumbs up

Very nice! A headstock photo would be nice. I have always thought his tailpiece covers were classy. Lp

Ditto on the desire to see a photo of the headstock! #That's a beauty. #Man, it sure looks like a vintage 'The Gibson' A-2 or A-3 at first glance, doesn't it? #Wonderful! #

    Congratulations, John. Enjoy it!

I have No. 17, also an A-2. It's got the old Gibson vibe with stronger tone and none of the issues.

Yes, it's a snakehead. My 1928 (which I've now had for about 30 years!) is a paddlehead and I almost asked Don to replicate that. But I didn't and now I'm very happy with the snake. I'll try and post a photo of the headstock tonight.

It looks like I don't have a handy close-up of the headstock from the front but here's a shot of the whole instrument.
