Printed some keys off the Mandozine sight and there is a section called FFcP Movable Scale Patterns. In the key of A there are three patterns called "Fourth Finger Pattern, Third Finger Pattern and Second/First Finger Linked Patterns." The last one is a combination of the first two, but seems to split the difference between the other two as to where it is played. Does anyone know what is meant by "Fourth Finger Pattern", etc. and what determines where the combined 4th & 3rd finger patterns is played on the neck. Thanks in advance.

Take a look at the JazzMando site and all your questions will be answered. Well, maybe not all, but at least this question will be.

    Here is my trick...

No matter what finger I start with, I skip a fret before each finger (skipping a fret before the index finger means going over 1 string and back 5 frets; not skipping one would be 6 frets back) except before the last finger (if you start the the 3rd finger, the 2nd finger is last). If you go more than one octave, remember that they overlap so you are starting the second one on a different finger. That's it. If you can understand and remember those simple rules you know every major scale in every position.

Braccio, thanks for the link. Cleared all of that up for the most part.
