"Blue Diamond Mines" isn't traditional; it was written by Jean Ritchie. It's on her old LP "Clear Waters Remembered." The recording has several wonderful original songs, as I remember: "West Virginia Mining Disaster" (NOT the BeeGees' "New York Mining Disaster"), "Black Waters," and "The L & N Don't Stop Here Any More."
Ritchie has never gotten her due as a songwriter, but she produces eloquent, memorable songs in a traditional style. She's a true treasure, and well worth seeing, even now in her 80's.
