Blues Children: Steer me to some new acoustic blues. #Or old acoustic blues. #I like Guy Davis, Mississipi John, Steve James, some of Clapton (OVER RATED! but pretty good), McKinley Morganfield, Little Walter, Lightning Hopkins and Evan Williams. #Jack

OK. There is some new and some old from:

    Cephas and Wiggins

That's their CD order page and there are hot links in the song listings to a few samples. They play Piedmont Blues and they play it well. I think they may be the best acoustic blues act around.

Does he have some acoustic stuff out? I have his latest (Get Your Nose Ot of my Bizness) and I really like it, but I would not classify it as acoustic blues.

Arbenhart, thanks for the tip on Cephas and Wiggins. #I sampled some of their songs at Amazon.com. #and will buy one or more - trying on ebay right now.
#I'm trying to improve my blues IQ and playing. #Right now, learning finger style guitar and it's going pretty good. #I hope to get where I can do a good job on good blues songs playing mando, guitar and harp. The fingerstyle guitar seems to be the next step. #Jack

If you're into fingerstyle guitar and harp, then I definitely made the right recommendation.

Also, check out weeniecampbell.com, a good "country blues" web site. It is mostly very old (pre WWII) acoustic blues playing on their juke box, but if you join (free) you will find a bunch of acoustic blues submitted by other members in the "Back Porch" forum and some of it is quite good (and some is well, not ). It's a great learning resource, people share music, lyrics and general info.

Kelly Joe Phelps has some excellent acoustic blues based recordings out, Slingshot Professionals has Jesse Zubot on mandolin. Zubot is a first rate musician and is unknown to the point of being invisible it seems; I recommend his duo with Steve Dawson as well (Tractor Parts,Chicken Scratch and Strang)
John Mooney (speaking of the criminally under rated) did a fun recording with Jimmy Thackery called Sideways in Paradise; all acoustic, lots of mando and 'dola.
