    Hi:

Just wanted to share some pics of my new Brentrup F4. Many of you may remember this mandolin from IBMA last year and also Supergrass this past Febuary.

I’ve just got to say that this is by far the best F4 I’ve ever played. Hans’ has really out done himself not only for the sound and playability but also the look. It looks like the best F4 I’ve ever seen as well.

My many thanks to Hans for building such a great mandolin!

    Thumbs up

Nice! I played that one at Supergrass, and was wondering who was going to own it. There were a few "superpickers" who wanted it then and there! Hope you enjoy it for many years to come....

Very nice, Chad! I like that red finish. It really pops on stage.

I got to play that one at the Bitterroot Fest. I have to say it is sweet. Problem is, I think that I caught MAS from Chad. Had to buy the new Collings MT2V Birdseye at Boyd's.

Well gee - if you like classic well made beautiful mandolins with a ton of tone then I guess that would do....

I'm told that it sounds just great on stage. I must admit that I'm still adjusting to the sound of the Oval hole. The response is much different that the F holes and therefore I'm having a hard time getting a sense of the sound on stage. I'm also trying not to over play it. That is something I tend to do anyway with new Mandolins. It's especially a concern with the Sound hole stuff. It seems real easy to over play this thing. The lighter touch is best. I also raised the action after last weekend. That helped allot. I'm going to be spending the next few weeks trying out different strings and setups.
The tone is just out of this world. It's really a joy playing this thing on sensitive Jazz numbers

Chad, how did you decide between the hybrid and the classic? Or was it even a choice for you? Both, obviously, have their strong suits, but do sound and play considerably differently, especially re. overtones and projection. Congrats on another phenomenal mando from the Hansmeister.

I guess it wasn't really a choice I considered. I saw Hans at several festivals last winter so I had lots of opportunity to play this mandolin. This was the one I wanted. It sounded awesome! I never considered changing anything except adding a radiused fingerboard.

I was lucky enough to play this instrument at SuperGrass. Forget about it being the best F4 on the planet......it might just be the finest mandolin, period. You are one fortunate dude!!!!
