Consider yourself lucky not to need more than the mando you have. I've certainly read posts of people who have traded away and had regrets. All of my trades to date have been up in terms of quality built instruments. I have the Eastman F-0val, a Weber Beartooth (A-ffhole) I hope to get back from Weber soon, a trinity college Octave, a weber sweet pea, and a Johnson A-oval for the kids.
When I see these Weber OMs for sale for less than $1K I get antsy. I fantasise about a cutom built F4 (which is odd 'cause I love my Eastman). I really want a flat top for another voice (if the Weber hadn't been such a steal-even with shipping it to Weber for some adjustments) I would have ordered an Arches flat top with cocobolo back and sides.
It's really ridiculous considering I don't play very often (two kids and a wife who is a vet and very busy) or well. But it's my only real vice, no golf, going to bars, smoking, cars, boats, motorcycles. So I justify it to myself. As long as the budget allows, I can dabble with different mandos.
What is your 'ain true love?
There are two things to aim at in life: first, to get what you want; and, after that, to enjoy it. Only the wisest of mankind achieve the second. Logan Pearsall Smith, 1865 - 1946
