I have a friend that owns this Mandoline. The label inside reads:
    THE POOK MANDOLINE
Reg Nov 20, 1908 or 1908 (the year is not very clear)Winnipeg Canada 709 Manitoba Ave.

Would anyone have any information on this fine instrument? Or does anyone know who I could contact to get more info?

    Email me at: johnsaw@shaw.ca

    Thanks,
    John

Don't know that maker, but this is a harp mandolin. More of these beasts are in this thread.

Yours is a bit strange, though, as it has both the arm of the harp mandolin and (sort of) the scroll of the F-style. Normally, the big arm is on the upper side. Of course, the F scroll is also normally on the upper side. So, yours is either a left-handed model with scroll at the bottom, or a right-handed one with arm at the bottom.

    Funky-looking thing!

Cool! How's it sound or is it art?
