Did Gibson ever make an A9 with the old style narrow type body? I know I can find older A5L's with this body style, and Elderly has an A5G from 95', yet I would like to know if the step down A9 had that style. Thanks, dy.

The A9 was designed to duplicate the same body air volume as The F5, meaning, I believe, the Loar era F5. Charlie Derrington posted to this effect on this board about 3 years ago. I was in a local store and listened to both an F9 and an A9 (played both as well) and I could not really detect much difference between their sound. They both sounded very nice. I felt that this was a definite case of paying big bucks for the scroll.
I think gibson hit the nail squarly on the head with this A-9, I tried a 2006 and my head may have been turned away from the scroll.
Throw my wife out the window, a kiss.
Finish is very thin on them. They first came out stained all brown. I am concerned that it may scratch up easily. I wonder if an unstained top would look better on an instrument a few years down the road.
