I played the prototype one and it is unbelievable! Great, great, great mandolin. It sounded better than every other Gibson they had on display at SPBGMA. Really loud, great tone, both bass and troubles but it really had some deep tone to it, played great, looked great, etc. I was highly impressed.
    If F-model mandolins have F-holes then why don't A-model mandolins have A-holes???

Because I'm poor and I just love my Bush model way too much! Maybe BigJoe will send you one! Well I know he will if you just send the perfect check to him.

I had the privilege of playing one of these in January at NAMM. It was the "sweetest" Gibson I'd ever played. It was different than what you would expect out of an instrument with the Gibson logo on it, warm, rich, VERY "intimate" and pure. I'm a hard sell in wanting any maker's F5, preferring a rounded jazz tone over bark or spank.

This one REALLY turned my head, and my fond wish is Gibson will write another entirely new tradition and innovate more instruments like the Goldrush.

my next mandolin im planning on being a gibson. and when i saw one of those, i think it just might be a gold rush.
what is the round about price those go for?
its about time that gibson did something to brighten up their colors.

    hey John,
The list on those is about $7200. So I think you'd find one for between $5000 and $6000 ( I think) . Maybe if you ask nicely they'll make you a purple one.
