I'd like to build another IV kit, but I really prefer the radiused fingerboard. #Is there a chance that will be an option in the near future?

You could always just radius the board yourself, if it's not an option. You can buy a radiused sanding block for $15 or so, or just make one. I made one and radiused a board yesterday, in fact. I found an old piece of 18" well casing (metal pipe). I taped sandpaper to it lengthwise, cut a 12" piecs of 2x4, and ran it back and forth along the pipe. Actually, first I ran it along the end of my belt sander to get the "meat" of the radius out quicker. Then I finished it off on the pipe - perfect 9" radius. Now stick sandpaper on it and go up and down your fretboard until it's radiused. Takes a bit of elbow grease, but it worked great.
I will ask the Factory to make them this way. Seems like most folks would like that anyway. Thanks!
Probably cause a price bump.

My wife says I don't pay enough attention to what she says....
(Or something like that...)
Good suggestion about a do-it-myself radius, I just don't have the tools or skills to refret a board.
That sounds great Ken. #I for one wouldn't mind paying a little more for the radius if it comes to that.
Ken, if you mean that you will ask them to do all of the kits radiused, my vote would be for it to be an option. Even if it's popular, lots of us are used to flat fretboards. Just my opinion![]()
Then option I will try for :-)
Thanks Ken. #We don't ask for much, do we?![]()
Ken,
as long as you are asking about options, how about a wider fretboard with a 1 3/16" nut? i imagine that would be a very popular option. it would clinch the deal for me....

Perhaps a way to go would be to ask the company to NOT pre-fret the boards. Sell them pre-slotted, but not pre-fretted. That way, those who like 'em flat could keep 'em flat, and those who want 'em radiused could do it themselves, and gain important experience in doing so.

Good idea Karen! This is what I would do Ken. Leave the original kit alone, with F holes and a flat fretboard. The kit that's coming out soon that doesn't have any holes cut in the top, get them to leave the frets off, so someone can radius the fretboard if they want. You could sell them as an options kit or a no options kit.
