I've always enjoyed Mike Compton's Big Indian Blues and since he was kind enough to post the tab on his site, I figured I'd give it a go. Here's a (terrible looking) movie of my efforts... or you can listen to the audio only if you'd like. Or you can totally ignore this post and go back to doing whatever you were just doing.

Thanks everyone for the kind words. I'm playing my BRW... it's the orange blob emanating from the dark grainy video.

great playing! That BRW sounds outstanding!

Have you made any recent recordings with your Ratcliff? I'd be interested in hearing how its coming along.

Good job. Not an easy one to play--especially the odd measure coming out of the A part into the B part.

I admit I was alittle stunned when Mike gave me Big Indian to post. That was a pretty decent gift to the regulars at the website. I figured he would have held back that one for the eventual "Compton" book of tab.

Beautiful tune and you play it well.

Thanks gents, Jason, you're right, the Ratcliff has been neglected of late... I will have to rectify that at some point.

Jim, thank you... I enjoy the site. I really appreciate folks like Mike that offer up some of their work gratis... especially the recordings on BluegrassBox. That is an unbelieveable bounty of bluegrass booty (10 times fast?)... Mike and David's show from Madison is one of my favorite shows up there.

Reviving this thread seven years later (!) to ask: Did anyone happen to save a copy of Compton's tab of this song? It's no longer on the website.

Edited to add: This is a great place. I've already been emailed a PDF of the tab!

Big Indian is located in the heart of the Catskill Mountains in Ulster County NY. It's a beautiful place.

You are awesome. I had most of it figured out by ear, but the chords and fingering where killing me. Thank you.
