I have a small supply of western yew wood from one rather large yew tree from the coast of BC. I know yew has been used in longbows, tool handles etc. Was wondering if anyone has heard of it being used in instruments. I was thinking of using it instead of maple for the rim, sides and neck but will probably will stick with maple. I don't think I want to boldly go where no maker has gone before on my first mando. I guess I'll always wonder when I look at that yew wood sitting in the shop.
