Well this year I got a Bobelock Mandolin case and a gift certificate from Musiciansfriend.com. Oh and the new Garth Brooks box set....it is a must buy for those Garth fans and it's only like $25 exclusively at WAL-MART.

This my see like a dumb question, but how does the hygrometer and humidifier work in the Bobelock case. I know how a humidifier usually works, but I don't even see the humidifier, just the hygrometer and if definitely won't come out. I thought you have to put water in a humidifier? Any help would be much apreciated.

    So what did you get?

Dfyngravity, did the case come with a small, plastic vaporette bottle? Sometimes cases just come with the hygrometer and not the actual humidifier. Southwest Strings sells the vaporette bottles for around eight dollars. You can also make one by poking holes in an aspirin bottle or small soap case and placing a sponge inside. I've found the homemade versions, especially the soap case one, hold moisture longer and work better that the commercial humidifiers. Bobelock cases are great; nice present!

My Christmas present was a Driftwood mandolin made by Andy Poe, #021 in the gallery section on www.driftwoodmandolins.com. A superb and beauiful instrument. Hard to put it down to go to Christmas Mass

I don't know, it was suppose to come with both. I have sent an email to finecaes, so I will see what they say.

A Driftwood mandolin isn't too shaby of a xmas present. All of Andy's mandolins are spactacular. I hope she sounds good, I have seen the pics on his website and she looks awesome.

Wow, you guys got Mando stuff? I'm envious...
I guess I got a cool vest from Eddie Bauer (down) so I could stay warm when Mrs. Mandohack makes me practice in the garage. In the true Christmas of Spirit, she let me play today without the car engine running.

Yup, mine definitely doesn't have the humidifier. So I hope finecases will send it. It is suppose to be there, according to the website all of the bobelock mandolin cases are upgraded to have both the hygrometer and humidifier.

Hey Ted, my wife makes me practice in garage too. I just paid $$$ to have it heated. #

Oh, I did get a Gilchrist Model 5 and an amazing D-18 for Christmas this year. #Even though she makes me play in the garage, she still loves me!!!

I got the Garth box set too, Dfyngravity. I was also surprised to find that Santa delivered to me a Mandolin Cafe T-shirt. What a great Christmas.

I got the Bobelock case for Xmas this year also. The humidifier was not in the case either. Emailed Finecase and they sent me one, with another hygrometer. It seems that the case was a drop-ship from Bobelock and they do not include the humidifier. Fear not, if you got it from Finecases, you will get it. They seem to be very nice people.

Hmmm. My Bobelock came with the hygrometer, but not with the humidifier.

2 pairs of socks and a water bottle for my bike...my big score was in the giving dept.! #My daughter got a fiddle, 2 bows and a old Baldwin organ that I've had at my shop for a few years. #She's never came by and DIDN'T played it so now it's hers. And her "rent a fiddle" just didn't cut it....i mean come on now, would a "rent a mando" be nearly as inspiring for you? #I did get myself some tickets to Wintergrass and Im soon to mail away for my fall Strawberry tickets too....yep, tis the season for festivities and real soon, festivals! Im trying to get up the bucks for the Loarfest at Supergrass but it's looking slim for now...maybe next year it'll be in Kansas (hint, hint) and I'll be able to click my heels tres and wala, Im there!

Where did you get your Bobelock from? I got mine from finecases.com. They show the case and list the Hygrometer/Humidifier as an upgrade.

Morgan Monroe MMS-7L showed up on tuesday with all packing labels etc. attached. I knew they were just holding all ground shipments until after Christmas and just doing express deliveries.
BTW, so far so good with the Morgan Monroe. Anybody have recommendations on strings for it? I have a set of J74's that I am going to try.

For Christmas I got this old mandolin, its pretty nice I guess. The top is all yellowed and has a big oval hole in it. The binding on the top has a black line but the back doesn't. #Says "The Gibson" #in some sort of shinny stuff where the string windie things are. Inside the label reads model A2-Z. I think I'll keep it #

I got my Bobelock from Finecases for Christmas and the humidifier was left out. The reason is because the case was drop-shipped from Bobelock and they do not include the humidifier. I emailed Finecases and they send me one. Seem to be very nice people.

I emailed them christmas day and still no reply.

Tom C- It actaully says that all the bobelock mandolin cases are automatically upgraded to have both the humidifier and hygrometer.

I guess I need to send another email.
