    Hi All,

For this month, I guess it makes sense that we learn a Holiday Tune, so we can look cool when play for co-workers at the office Holiday Party! There's no speficic tune, but you can pick one you like from here:

    Mandozine Holiday Tunes

But, also, if you aren't up to learning a new tune, please post a recording of something you've been working on lately. It would be good to hear some new stuff and get an idea of what people are learning.

I'm also looking for tune suggestions for January...What is everyone interested in learning?

    Thanks,
    Rob

Some of the easier Monroe things (if there is any!). Some Irish jig or reel. Rags are cool. I'll try to find some examples tomorrow.

I did record a Christmas song (in fact, THE Christmas Song), but don't have an MP3 convertor at the moment. #If you'd like to hear it, it is the top link on my music page (see below). #It's in WAV format, so may be slow to load.

With some help from Rob, (**** Yahoo!!) I uploaded my December tune. I havent been working on any holiday tunes properly lately, so I decided to record a Swedish trad tune instead because I've been working on Swedish traditional music mostly during the autumn. This is a polska (a certain dance tune) from somewhere named Gusum (don't ask me where it is located). I'm learning it on the fiddle and it's quite tricky so here it's me playing "just" the mandolin.

The two I posted were figured out on on Christmas Day because I got tired of seeing the empty folder. Not fancy, but they are seasonal! Dan

Kudos and thanks to you both!
That empty folder was getting to me too.

    Susi,
That Polska sounds really sweeet! Your playing has come a long way quickly, I hope you can hear that yourself! Maybe we can hear the Polska done on the fiddle??

    Question

Hi Jim, and thanks. Actually, I haven't heard much progress myself, more than that I'm now able to improvise breaks more than before, and I'm not too stuck with knowing the melody (I can improvise on chords). But on instrumentals I think I sound like before, but Daniel keeps saying that I now play faster.
I listened to some old recordings though, a couple of days ago, and realized that I actually do play better, more relaxed. So that's good. I'll try to record maybe not that one but SOME polska for you soon on the fiddle.
