I got one of these to play with. The action seems high. Any standards on this? Bridge adjustment is via wood removal, rather a 1 way process, so I don't want to go too far.

Strings are an unknown. Any suggestions on gauges & sources? I'm tuning GDAG at the moment.

It is fun, but I know it can be more fun.

Thanks much for any suggestions. Haven't had one of these before.

    Steve-
Tuning on these is generaly GDAE, with GDAD as a common alternative. Zouks and OM's are kind of less standardized than mandos, generally. What's the scale on it? That will have a big influence on string gauges.

Also-- you might want to post in the CBOM section... many knowledgeable zouk players there...

    Steve:
.042"w, .032"w, .020"w, .014" makes a nice set for tuning GDAE, GDAD & what I use, one whole tone lower, FCGC, where I find it sounds much better. Those TC's come set up for octave stringing, but I cut the nut and saddle for unisons.
