I have a gentleman who has offered a Howard Morris Mandolin for sale. I have no idea who Howard Morris is and if his instruments are worth owning. It is a F Model made in 2004 in fir and maple. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

There are a few discussions here on these. This is one, which links to some more.

Good link, but to answer your question more directly, I had a Morris that he made in 2002, an F4 that was very nice. Plain, no frills, just a good player, nice sound, good playability, very inexpensive compared to the Eastmans, and most definately any other American made mandolin. Howard's a nice guy, too, and a player.

I love my new F4 Morris mandolin. Mine is not custom. It is Sonny's standard quality with an oval hole. Mine has a western red cedar top and maple back and sides. It plays and sounds wonderful.
