Just to let you know that on Friday, 16 December I will be playing some Vivaldi trios, one by Boni and some Morley Duets as part of the University of York music department's lunchtime concert series from 1pm. Jack Lyons Concert Hall.

I wish I could be there, Michael. #I certainly would enjoy it. #If only there weren't an intervening ocean... #What accompanying instrumentation will be assisting for the baroque works? #What instrument(s) are you using?

You might want to also post this in the thread specifically crafted to house this type of info, "Madolin Concerts of Note."

Ahhh, you are still here Michael...I might try to get there, but wrong day. Only an hour drive, but Friday is the last day of school for us.

I have heard Michael Hooper perform the Vivaldi and Boni works previously. His historically informed divisions are always music magic.

This is likely to be research, technique and musicality at its synergistic best.

Michael Hooper, at his York concert, will be using a new mandolin; a replica of an 18th Century mandolin found in the V&A Museum London.

Michael received a grant from the Ian Potter Foundation to allow maker Bob Meadows (Australia) to research and build the instrument.

Knowing the detail fiends in this section, you must, of course, give us more info on this new mandolin. Who is the maker and what specific instrument did he copy?

So, what instrument is he playing? I think folks on this list might be interested -- esp those of us who cannot make it there.
