I have a mandolin fretboard to radius. I can do it compound w/o trouble. Trying to figure out compound what. Perhaps 18" at the nut and 22" at the wide end. Just guessing. Suggestions?
Thanks

9" at the nut and 22" at the end.
I use a 7 1/4" radius end to end, and it doesn't seem extreem at all. A 16" radius is hardly noticable on a board a narrow as a mandolin.

According to Peter Mix at Rigel, Rigels are 9.5" at the nut and about 16" at the end of the fretboard, then the bridge gets set up to provide uniform proper string height, which works out to be 20-something. I really like that Rigel fretboard. If I were ordering a custom mando, that's what I would want.
I recently used 9" at the nut and 15" and the 12th fret, which worked out well-- I usually calcualte it so the edge of the fretboard is a constant height.

OK, that seems like a fair amount of radius. I'll contour one and see how I like it!
