    Hey All!

    # I sprained my left wrist playing hockey Thursday night, my chord hand, and couldn't play the mando that night. #The doc took pictures and told me it probably wasn't fractured and that I should Ice, elevate, Ibuprofanate and rest it. #He left it open to me to "see how it feels" as to when I can strum again. #I want to play now and cowboy through the pain, but I know that's a bad thing. #I am trying to let the pain be my guide as to what not to do, but seeing those strings i am sooo tempted! #Has anyone ever gone back too early and regretted it? #

#This site had some good info: http://musicianshealth.com/musculoskeletaldisorders.htm
but I'm looking for some personal experiences, any info would be helpful.

    Thanks! Joe

Playing through pain is one thing, playing through pain and inflammation is another. Wait. Be patient. Don't prolong your recovery.

One last thing... HOCKEY? Why? When you should have been practicing your mandolin?

    Focus, man, focus.

    Less talk, more pick.

"doc took pictures and told me it probably wasn't fractured "
With wrists that probability can be higher than other fractures. I'm no Dr but I learned, many first Xrays may not reveal anything with wrists. it happened to my sister from a 2ft fall onto a mattres from a step ladder. When it not get better she had to go for MRI's and such. She ended up getting a cast that goes above the elbow right before going to Jamaica on vacation. I would wait to make sure nothing is fractured.

I think a cast on my left wrist is the scariest Halloween costume i can think of! #Thanks for the advice, I am so far resisting the temptation. #I was on the bench when realization hit...I won't be able to play....Mando! #My teammate looks over and says "You mean Hockey, right?"...He just doesn't understand...

I'd quit hockey if it were'nt for our intense coach: http://www.collegehumor.com/movies/154638

    Thanks!
