I'm going flyfishing with Dad near Red River next weekend, and was wondering if there is any mando music to be found in the evenings there? We go fishing every fall somewhere, but it's been 3 or 4 years since we stayed in Red River.

Two words: Goose Lake
Two more words: Dead Chicken (err... that's a fly).
I've fished Goose Lake before. It may be a little high for mid-October though. We'll be climbing down into the Rio Grande gorge just outside Questa in search of BIG brown trout and cutt-bows. Wooley Buggers and Bunny Leaches drifted through the deep holes are the ticket there. We'll drift a Renegade over the beaver dam pools in the Quality Water section of the Cimarron one day too (maybe a secret variation of a Pheasant Tail nymph dropper on it too). Depending on how good the fishing on the Rio Grande is (and how sore we are after climbing back out of the gorge), we'll either go a second day there or up to the Rio Costilla for some dry fly fishing. We could hit Shuree Pond while we're on the Valle Vidal too. It sure is beautiful up there, and the elk might still be bugling.
But what about the live music in Red River? It'd be hard to make a day of flyfishing any better, but some good live music before bedtime wouldn't hurt!
