I live in Charleston Illinois (East Central Part Of The State) and localy there arn't any "mandolin" instructors I can find. There are guitar teachers that say they could help me a bit but I would rather have "Mandolin" instructor not somebody that could make due.
I am a trucker and home every weekend or would consider an on the road instructor if access was posible. I am looking for someone to make sure I am going down the right path and to guid me rather than see me every week unless needed.
I travel to Ga Tn Ky In Oh Pa Md on a regular basis. I wish there was a way to do this online and yes I have some basic tapes but it is more of a not wanting to start any bad habits that books don't pick up.

    ANY HELP WOULD BE WONDERFUL!!!!!
    Thanks

I know a couple of good ones here in the Lexington, KY area if that's on your route. I can PM you with some details about their background, how they teach (tab, ear) and when they are likely to be available if that would be of interest to you.

Good luck! Videos and the like are a good resource, but I've found that feedback is important.

Also, I may be unusual (well, o.k., in more ways than one) but I'm still struggling with playing fine by myself and with CDs but suddenly developing 10 thumbs whenever I try to play with anyone else and it's nice to have a pro to push me now and again...

    Hey,

I'm 4.5 miles west of the Flying J truck stop at the VA I-81 exit 323 (on the VA/WV state line). You wouldn't be able to drive your rig past the truck stop, but it wouldn't be a hassle for me to drive up there.
