This year's ZoukFest Instrument Raffle is for the first ever Rigel Octave Mandolin!

This instrument is the prototype for a new production model octave mandolin, hand built by Rigel's Pete Langdell!

About the design from Rigel’s Peter Mix:

“We're going to use a small-bodied, exquisitely-designed archtop guitar as the template for the instrument. This may seem like a stretch, but is our observation that the (Gibson style) K5 makes the best mandocello configuration and we believe this will also prove to be the case for an octave mandolin.”

Specifications:
The Octave Mandolin prototype will have a Carved Red Spruce top, carved back and sides of Vermont Rock Maple, Mahogany neck, Ebony fretboard, and a 22 ˝ " scale. Other details TBA. Stay tuned to the ZoukFest webpage http://zoukfest.com <http://zoukfest.com/> for news and photos as the project develops!
