When I came across a quality tenor banjo, I kept my old no-name tenor and had the nut and bridge reversed for LHed playing.

I want to but some position makers on the side of the neck. What's something readily at hand that I can use? Don't want to use wooden dowel since it'll darken up.

    Thanks

I have heard of brass rod being used. I would think a hobby shop or craft store would have this. I am lucky in that there is a shop that sells luthier supplies near me. I have purchased the plastic rod sold for side dots in the past. If you wanted to use plastic rod for dots, you would probably have to order it from someone like Stew-Mac.

If you want black, you can use the bristles out of a cheap hair brush.

You can get really inexpensive plastic rod at the crafts section of Walmart for next to nothing that work fine. That, a tube of Duco, and a sixteenth-inch drill bit, and you are good to go.

2.5mm aluminium TIG wire works a treat and it cuts back easy with a file and sand paper.
